many thanks for the extra pictures, i was realy hoping for a t6061 stanp someware?

this stamp is the only diffrence between a pantera and a zaskar

Hi Steve

As far as I'm concerned it's a Zaskar, I bought it as a Zaskar, The general consensus on here was it is a Zaskar, all I can say is NO ONE can tell me the visible difference between a Zaskar and a pantera.

If you want to be certain your buying a Zaskar the only way I can suggest is to go to your local GT dealers and buy one off them

Sorry I cant be any more help

cheers kaya

I've just bought it - thanks Vern you're a gent. Look out for the build thread on here before too long

And for what it's worth;

It looks like a Zaskar, Vern says it's a Zaskar, I'm going to build it as if it's a Zaskar, the serial # suggests it's a Zaskar & GM reckons it's a Zaskar

If it's not a Zaskar who the hell'll care anyway?!

already have a pantera that was sold and brought as a "zaskar" it is also build dated 03/91/**** but not t6061 tubing which is better heat treated and stronger. didnt mean to offend or imply that the sale wasn't genuine, or not as the description, just didnt want to get mugged off again. as for who will know, i will and thats whats important to me!!! maybe people shouldnt be so sarcastic, and get a life

How did you find out you'd bin sold a pantera ? as the only other way I can think of,
other than having the alloy tested.
Would be if you found paint on the inside of the tubes, if you understand what I mean
I also thought that a Zaskar was 26.8 and a pantera was 27 (seat tube) size
Ps I'm not any kind of an expert just going off what Ive been told and read.

cheers kaya

Hey Steve - sorry if it's my comments that have offended you

I was expressing in my last post that I was happy to have got hold of this frame, having spent many times as a young'un looking at '91 Xizangs & Zaskars & wishing I could afford either, & therefore to build this up to be as I'd spent so long day-dreaming it would be, I wouldn't care if I did eventually find out that it wasn't a Zaskar as at least I'd be looking at & riding a bike rather than just looking at a picture

Get a life? Touché! Harsh, but touché!

See you on the trails

I've got a 1994 Zaskar LE that uses a 27.0

Had a 1994 Zaskar that took a 27.0 and a 1997 that also took a 27.0

Not sure if this is relevant too this or not.

Anyway, Facts are kaya sold a lovely looking frame too a guy who will hopefully enjoy it as much as those of us who've rode them enjoy them.

I'll be looking for a build thread.
