I'm a bit of an addict of older Campy group sets, I have an 8 speed chorus on a Pinarello which is a little agricultural but very sure-footed. 8 speed chains are good and chunky and cheap to replace.
The missus has 9 speed Daytona on an ALU + De Rosa which feels the same.
The only issues with both of the above is you need a a firm shift onto the small chainring, maybe there's a case for new cables!
I also use 10 speed 2000 Centaur (pictured) but my favourite is a Daccordi 9 speed Veloce, curiously a lower end group set. Clearly it's difficult to compare fairly, given the age of cables, pivot wear etc etc.
I think when 11 speed was introduced not all Campag compatible wheel sets had hubs that would accept 11 speed cassettes. I know for sure Hope didn't in 2010.
