I've never snapped a chain in my years me running 7 speed but in the last few years i've gone through 4 sram and shimano 9 speed chains. Any ideas of anything that's likely to last. The rest of my drive train is in good condition so i'm sure its not me breaking them.

I used to snap a 9speed at least weekly . At least when you go to pick it up its nicely stretched out in a line behind you 
It's probably a major reason why I use one gear with a 1/8 chain now .
I sheared a link in a 3/32 8speed chain a few months ago , serves me right for trying to shave a few grams .
Where are all the strong chains ?

No first hand experience, but I'm told 9 speed shimano chains are crap and to be avoided. Sram are supposed to be ok (but youve snapped one of those too) and campag are supposed to be best.
I know that the shimano ones are a one-fix only, unless you use a power link, whereas campag can be set up time and time again with an old fashioned link extractor.
Like I said, its only hearsay - no actual experience.

feck, chain, damn that's what been nagging me in my list of things for the bike. damn, need a chain. thanks
