9.0 brake lever compatability

I have a pair exactly like these =>

Are they compatible with cantilever brakes?

There is a small red plastic bit than can be removed. Is that for making them work with cantis? If not, what is it?

I think they are V brakes lever .

does removing the red plastic bit lift the cable up a bit , reducing the pull ?

No, the levers wont work with cantis they say. Removing red plastic will result in maximum brake force, according to SRAM.
