Having just sold a Clockwork to make some space I've obviously just bought another! First time I've had an early solid orange bike so it's certainly a worthy addition.

Originally I'd planned to change a few parts as both this and my yellow/white are a mix of period correct LX + DX so the thought was to make one LX bike and another DX but having heard that this is pretty much as it came from the shop and the original owner, who used to live up north, liked the idea of this bike returning 'home' makes me think I might just keep it as is. We'll see.

Do like a orange bike! I was under the impression that STI units came out in 1990. Hope you don't mind me asking.

Not at all mate. You are correct but Shimano used to release the next years group set mid to late the previous year so the 89 built frames were often built with '1990' kit.

Another example would be the 1992 MBUK Summer Special having a 1993 M560 LX equipped Clockwork as a prize. As Orange offered any decent group set in any configuration back then they could bolt the new kit straight on rather than like other manufacturers who would wait until they released the next model year range with the updated group sets around autumn, ready for the Christmas market.
