Recently i acquired this one. And confess i didn't notice the missing cable stop at the steertube for the rear mech.

I spent nearly one day peeling 6 "powerslide" stickers off with a hairdryer. Fixed the paint as good as i could, polished it a little. Parts will be full MT62.

Meanwhile i used the saddle for another bike  put a conquest on, changed the seatpost. (Will replace the link wire with XT).

Cable stop. I don't want to braze a new one on, because of the paint. I thought about bonding it. Has anyone ever done this or will it work? Otherwise i would use a problem solver backstop. Other ideas? Advice aprreciated. Thanks.

Re:

Pfew, that's nice. Not many of them around I guess. These were built to order in the Netherlands, as far as I can remember.

Yes, very rare indeed. 10 to 20 I think is a good estimate. I haven't seen one in the flesh ever, and I've been in mountainbikes since 1989. FL1085 translates to EUR492. Those days pretty much money for a frame alone.
Where did you find this one?

Re:

Guess, you are right. Quite pricy at that time. I remember paying 500 marks for my Basso Scout XC frame in 1991, which is about half the price and i think 1000 for a De Rosa SL or SLX( don't remember exactly) road frame.

I found it on ebay, germany. Won it for about 40 € incl. shipping. I hope i don't suffer a surprise apart from the missing stop. So far i found no other damages.

It ist also as a complete bike in the pricelist with XT Equipment. Shame i don't have a complete set at the moment.

Very nice. I happen to have 3. Your frame is earlier than my 3 frames.

You could opt for the Yeti style cable mounting where the outer bumps on the front mech and the inner sits bolted to the hole where the pulley wheel sits. Or is that hole missing too?

Re:

Yours is wonderful. Three? :o What about the other two? Do you have any pictures or what were/are they equipped with?

My problem is the rear derailleur, not the front. Or am i missing your point?

A little steel plate is still there. Do you think a two component adhesive might work? I guess the rear stop on my cadex is also only glued.

The 2nd frame is a NOS kit with Euclid headset and BB in the same paintscheme as the full bike under the link you posted. The 3rd frame is a frame only in a nice blue. Atm no pics, I am sorry.

On the routing: okay, I get it. I think I would braze a bit on and A) have it partially repainted if I wanted to preserve the patina/original paint or B) have it fully repainted. I have done option A once with very good result. Black is black and with a clear for the full frame the transition on my frame is not visible.

Stops don't even need to be brazed on they can be silver soldered at a lower temp. I have done this myself and the damage was really only local (about 2cm square) even with my hamfisted first attempt. So I would attempt to silver solder it.

Carl.

Re:

Thanks for your replies. So, in the long run i will see a frame builder and have it partially resprayed. But for now a makeshift solution i ordered a clamp-on stop for.

Little update. Serviced the hubs and bb (done this with the headset before), changed the link wire, polished the front brake a little. New rubbers for the axle nuts and seat clamp.

Exchanged the handlebar and seatpost (the only matching i own or was able to find), almost nos Brooks Conquest with red springs (little splash of colour  ), white bottle cage, Deore pedals. Tried a Ritchey grip.

Tires are going to be blackwall Michelin with white labeling. So it will be throughout white (lettering) on black, except the saddle.

Could replace the headset with a lovely Tange Seiki Levin i have...As well i'm not really happy with the rims...But will wait and see...
