8 speed uniglide cassette

I have an old Shimano wheelset that is missing its casette, I know its a uniglide and looks like this....

Will yours fit Mr jm?

If thats a 6spd freehub it will go straight on.Also I have a 14,two 15's,an 18,a 30 and a brand new 32.jm.

Hi, can I buy your 6 speed casette :). It's going to run with a short cage Crane / Dura Ace so that's 28 at the biggest.

Sorry to be so vague but all my vintage wheels have freewheels and this set is my only casette jobbies, bought off here.

Re:

Those wheels of yours have a hg freehub not a ug.That means you can use any 7 spd Shimano cassette, not just the older ug ones.
This modern stuff is a tad confusing at times. You will get to grips with it eventually.
I think Shimano still make a 7 spd cassette !!! I will check when I get to work.

^ Shaun, that one in your picture is definitely Uniglide and it'll take 6 or 7 gears. It just depends how many you decide to put on the splines and the lock cog just screws on a bit further for the 6. Hyperglide had an internal thread for the locknut, not an external one.

I'm a novice with casettes but I thought Hyperglide had diferent sized splines and mine are all the same size...

I'll take a picture of my hub when I go into the garage later to feed the guinea pigs :)

Life was much easier in the 70's when all you did was screw them off and on LOL

Here is a pic of my hub, apologies for the pink frame in the background..

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hmm, I suspect that it's a combined UH/HG hub - check if there's thread on the inside edge too.

In that case, you can fit any 8(/9/10) HG cassette and I'm sure I've got several spare ones.

Hope this helps, Nikica.
