It might be that (as I wrote above in the thread, "The rubber seal on the other end is also wrong - perhaps taken from a front hub") but it looks more to me as though it's a rear seal that's sitting too deep in the hub shell because the inner dust shield has been removed. Look at the proportions:

In any case, the fit isn't right, and the seal appears to be cracked. If it comes to it, the correct seal can still be bought cheaply as a spare part.
