This may or may not be relevant - just bear in mind that you will have 5mm of axle sticking out somewhere or other and this may be just enough to stick out proud of the frame preventing the QR from doing up.

But the DX hubs have the axle and spacers that might just do the job.
He would need some cone spanners though. Well worth buying.

Have some cone spanners, but if I change the axle in my 8 speed wheels the wheel will still need re dishing yes? Thats something I cant do.
