Anyone else think that the Bristol bus driver who deliberately swerved his bus into a cyclist received a ridiculously light sentence?

He pleaded guilty to GBH and dangerous driving and got 17 months! Apparently he will have serve half his sentence before being considered for release!

It seems to me that this sends the message to all drivers that you may run someone over deliberately and receive a lighter sentence than if you used a gun or a knife to attack your victim.

This is not a run of the mill "Sorry, I didn't see you there mate." incident with a stupid driver.

Well yes - but I also think this bus driver has lost his job and who is going to employ someone who is that dangerous / irresponsible? Hes going to suffer in the long term and all because he was too macho to drive on by.
Sadly theres a hatred of cyclists that sometimes makes them targets for these people.
I hope the poor cyclist has recovered and is back on a bike.

i just watched the video  why do people in vehicles think using a vehicle as a weapon is fair game? the strange thing is most people only seem to act like that when behind the wheel, if these two were walking down the street would he have barged him out of the way? no but for some strange reason a lot of people lose all forms of respect for fellow people when cocooned in 2 tons of steel (or 7.5 tonnes in this case) and think its ok to ram their way past. humans are a strange breed

If he ends up at Ford open prison down on the south coast with any luck
he'll get work release.... DRIVING A BUS !!!

Though I think that might have stopped now

Im sorry thats appauling...he should be recieving more that that poxy sentance...next it will be a knife we uses as a weapon in a fit of anger or a bottle etc....
