720 vs 1080

Flat screen digital TVs are really poo with SD material too, via scart etc.

I was most put off with my 42" plasma, going from a 32" CRT. VM box is scart as is the PS2, both look terrible. The PS2 has been retired as it's just unbearable on the plasma. I'm trying to justify VM'd HD but the base package sucks and installation is a gyp.

Mediacenter PC is setup with DVI>HDMI and looks fine, just too damn noisy when watching HD material as it works hard and the fans fire up.

The PS3 has made all the difference though, maybe its just the HDMI, maybe it has better upscaling than the TV.

I do now get simulation sickness playing first person games though.

If you need to get a new telly, you could do worse than look at the range from LG....

I was sceptical at first as I am of an age that remembers them from way back (they used to be 'goldstar', hence LG...lucky goldstar)....but!

The picture quality from my 37" was only bettered by the panasonic viera plasma, and as I didnt want a plasma, there was no choice to be made......

all for £500 with a 5 year warrenty from richer sounds.

Le GF is correct when he says watch football on the one you are thinking about getting (or tennis) and if the ball stays sharp, anything else will be too

LG are indeed awright- the LCD panel in yer telly will be made by Sharp, Samsung, or LG/Phillips, whatever the actual brand is- but like LGF says, it depends a lot on the processor.........it's worth lookin' for deals as well- most big brands have stuff like a free Blu Ray player or extry 5 year warranty on a regular basis.

Got a LG 32" 100hz 1080 for £399 in Richer Sounds. Good buy i think, like it a lot so far.

Just think what bike or frame i could have got for that :-)
