7 speed to 8 speed

Hi guys, is it as simple as fitting an 8 speed free hub and 8 speed cassette to a 7 speed hub. To convert or is there other issues. Thanks in advance Lee

Less hassle and compatibility issues if you get a whole wheel. A hub like a LX parallax, stx-rc and ting. then it's just shifter, mech and cassette. Some 7 speed mechs will work with 8 speed anyway.

I'm running 8 speed ATM but I have a 7 speed stx wheel set I'd like to have as a swap over set of wheels. Was hoping to just but a 8 speed free hub and bolt it in.

To switch from a 7 speed freehub body to an 8 speed one, you'd also most likely need to alter the axle spacers between the cones and lockrings.
Then the wheel would also need re-dishing.

It's not especially difficult if you have the parts, tools and you know what you are doing.
