56 days in prison for racist tweets?

Have to say I divided about it - on the one hand, there's the realisation that somebody spouting such bile, for once, gets their comeuppance - on the other hand, it seems that other crimes, perhaps of equal or more damage to society, don't attract the same sort of righteous justice.

Sometimes you just can't help but think you can see the strings - almost like some things are done for effect, to please or placate certain vociferous demographs, whilst other, perhaps more mundane transgressions, don't seem to draw the same attention, focus or outrage.

Sometimes it's hard to be a cynic... (sing that to the tune of "Stand by your man")

Appropriate?

Probably not.

Will a seemingly harsh penalty deter other of doing the same.

Hope so.
