5 minutes left - Beautiful Peugeot Surfer

Anyway I bought it, I couldn't bear to see it go to someone else for that price. Now I have a problem with space to solve 🤨

Looks beautiful 😍 Would you be interested in selling it? My Peugeot Anaconda got pinched from our courtyard a few months ago. Looking for a replacement. Cheers, J

I pm'd you but not sure if new members can receive pm's so I'll post the message here too.

Hello Jack, so sorry to hear about your bike being stolen, I had a bike I loved stolen and so I know how deeply it cuts.

As far as the Surfer goes, the plan was always to sell it, but I was going to completely strip it down, service everything, replace parts where necessarry, tidy it up generally and sell for a profit, however, so far it has sat untouched. It looks exactly as it does in the pics, it rides well, gears and brakes are functional, there are a few minor scratches and rust spots, nothing serious though, all it really needs is a bit of TLC to get it back to its best.

I have bought some items for it, a nice period correct rear rack in white, also need a little cosmetic attention, plus a genuine Peugeot water bottle and a replacement front derailleur, the one that's fitted on the bike now is absolutely fine, this one was cheap and is just shinier 😊 If you want it and are able to perform the service etc yourself then I'd be happy to let it go as it stands for what I paid for it including the extras, which would be £142.

Where are you based? I'm in Northampton, I'd much prefer it if you could collect it, although we can talk about a courier if that's the only option.

Hello just found this thread. My wife has one of these bikes. She bought it herself from new as a teenager. We have the two were bottles and holders and the bike looks in good condition. She is thinking of selling it. Is there a good forum and what is a reasonable price. It’s unrestored but clean and everything works as it should. All original including the tyres.

Something is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it, if more than one person likes it then it may be worth a little more than they were initially prepared to pay.

It sounds like you have a very nice bike, one owner, all original including the tyres and accessories, with all due respect to your wife I assume she hasn't thrown it recklessly over the crest of many mountains during its lifetime. If the bikes been looked after and not abused then it could be worth quite a bit, but selling it is always something of a gamble.

Take some pics from several angles, a few close ups of the running gear and other components too,if there is any rust or other marks or damage show that too, post them here and we'll give you our honest opinions about the bike and maybe some advice as to how to go about getting it into the best condition so you can get the best price for it.

It's funny, I've been restoring mine this very week, perhaps we could talk about putting them up together as a his and hers pairing, you never know it might help us both maximize our revenue ;)

Welcome to Retrobike.
