A few years ago I would have been pretty despondent, expecting to be an international man of mystery by now.

However, I find myself feeling guilty about being rather happy!

There is a down side though, missus is being made redundant soon and my wage, er, heh, oops...

Anyway, off to work on a bicycle.

I'd say so.

I'd love to, if I could afford to.

Being stuck doing something reasonably well paid, although perhaps lacking job satisfaction, these days, is something of a trap.

If it were possible, I'd love to do a job like, that - albeit perhaps more a traditional LBS, than perhaps a big chain like Halfords - there's still some of the big company, and "The Man" to reggae with.

I wouldn't be - a lot of people in the current climate would be chuffed just to have a job, let alone one they're enjoying.

I've often thought about jumping ship and back going into the bike trade (as a racing man this has seemingly obvious perks in terms of time off for events, bike maintenance and getting new kit at reduced or trade rates), but as a single-income household in a town with a higher-than-average cost of living, my current line of work (science education) pays better. Ho hum.

My boss says that is a load of bollocks. I hid the tow rope from him last week as i didn't want to find his dangling boots in my face when I opened shop.

I've been doing a few hours at my local bike shop over the last few weeks. Novelty has worn off a little now, but I'm still enjoying it. Can't say I could do it full time, I don't find it mentally challenging enough. Nice to be helping out a local shop though.
