36 hole rims needed

I need some Mavics from late 80's or early nineties to build onto a pair of XT M730 hubs from 1987. Would like to keep the wheelset as 'period' as possible so anything from this period would be considered.

I've got a pair of virtually unused Mavic M231cd's in 36 hole, no rim wear and no real signs of use

This sounds exactly what i need. Remind me again of the difference between the CD's and the standard rims. Also, what colour are they.
