300LX Sti units

Hi all, I've managed to pick up a pretty mint version of my first proper MTB. Once I have it I'll pop a new thread up.

In the meantime I know that it is coming with more modern "upgraded" STI units than the 300LX examples it would have had as new. I'd like to have the proper ones on there.

has anybody got any lurking at the bottom of their spares box? I'd happily have a set of 400LX too as they're close enough.

The 300 to 500lx units are one and the same. There are two types though. Early has squared off levers whereas the later version is more rounded.

Deore LX also share the same shifter but the brake levers are slightly different with more normal threaded cable adjustment.

I may have two pairs available, both the more rounded versions.

Ah thanks, that I didn't know.

20+ year memory suggests to me that the ones I had on my original bike were more squared off but I'd happily take the more rounded ones as they'll be a lot "better" than the modern units. It's odd, considering how little the bike has been used judging by pictures I can't understand why he's swapped the shifters.

They gum up really easily and age doesnt help. I will have a nose to see whats what and what.

found 'two' sets.

One has the covers from some Deore LX but has the 300LX innards and brake levers

The others are a set of shifter gizards

both are oiled up and ready to go
