Yes, they are.. I was half way through paying back £500 when they wrote to me telling me we owe them another £300...

Without getting too political I find this whole tax credit thing a waste of time. Why not just have much less tax for lower earners? The mind boggles just thinking how much must be wasted in administration costs of the tax credit system, especially when they mess up.

On a semi related point, I was chatting to a US colleague the other day about healthcare, NHS taxes etc. He pays 7-8% state and federal taxes. Even with his healthcare insurance he is nowhere near our 25-30% burden and even then they have much lower sales taxes and overall hidden taxes. Makes you realise why they have such big spending power.

i have ot agree about the tax credit thing, it just seems like so much bureaucracy.
 
Tax Credits are great, especially when they whack over £2k in your account followed by a letter saying they've been underpaying you.

Could buy meself a Pace, powdercoat a couple of frames . . . get the Wifes car sorted . . . truck MoT'd and taxed . . coupla credit card bills paid . .

family tax credit! dont go there! we got sick and tired of dealling with them :? one lot says here have some money, then another lot says no your not entitled to it give it back! so we said stuff em and just ignore the letters now and dont get it, just in they turn round and say give it all back!
where as my work mate gets it and has been told that he's not entitled to it, but as he's now use to it and it would cause a hardship if they stopped giveing to to him :shock: so we'll carry on sending you it!
 
found 1 car a picasso x reg for .1600 in very good condition in norwich and 1 in gorleston ...a renault megane,leather insides,alloys and sun roofs...1795....having another look tommorow in yarmouth but only 2 cars found is not a good sign..humpf
 
just found a 4 litre jeep cherokee for a grand in good nick...comes with a free 20 shares in bp to run it..
