27"tyres and turbo trainer

The new smart trainers don't use an actual back wheel. You kinda dock a wheelless bike into it

The older fan types are adjustable so you should be ok

Use a dedicated back wheel for turbo use. Don't also use your turbo wheel on the road. It leaves a shiny metallic film on the tyre. I used to use tyres that have worn thin for the turbo

Deffo with @pigman on that - shiny turbo tyre on the road, no thank you.
Depending on where you are, I have a turbo you can borrow/have as it’s sat doing nowt these days

Try a Tacx Flow. A basic trainer but compatible with nearly all training platforms - Zwift, Rouvy etc. Unless you are a wannabee pro it is probably all you need. A wheel in type turbo so your wheel spacing is immaterial. My turbo bike is an old 531 frame with 8 speed gears. Works well.

A word of warning - you can get punctures on the turbo. Don't ask me how I know.

I've got one of the original Tacx Turbos. Never had a problem fitting any bike into it - geared/fixed/700c/27" - well, no problem other than having to use the supplied QR skewer in place of hub specific ones that is. As I'm lazy and swapping between turbo and road depending on the weather, I'm also using the Tacx QR when I'm out on the road.
While sorting through stuff in my parent's garage the other day I looked up and spotted my old Olmo monoroller (think that was the name of it) wedged between a rafter and the roof. Thought I'd got rid of it when under BB cable routing became the norm. Any body remember them?
