26.4mm stem

Having recently acquired an old Dawes Super Galaxy I'm looking into tweaking it for comfort - including changing the bars for a wider set, and the stem - ideally for something gooseneck-style (sorry purists).

I have bars - Grand Cru Randonneur which I bought at a cycle jumble. However the clamp diameter is 26.4mm - checked with digital gauge and an attempt to fit into the only 26mm stem I own. Whilst I'm aware I can get a traditional Cinelli stem in 26.4mm I haven't seen anything gooseneck-style that will take 26.4mm.

Has anyone got any leads on the availability of such a stem? I'm guessing they're either a figment of my imagination or are made of unobtainium, but I thought I'd ask rather than go to the darkside and look for an ahead stem (which has probably never been made for 26.4mm).

Thanks.

I think 26.4 was only made by cinelli. If your bars are grand cru, surely they make a stem to match?

It's rather bizarre as the VO website states the Grand Cru Rando bars are 26mm clamp and the VO stems are for 25.4, 26 & 31.8 - nowt for 26.4. I haven't tried wedging open a 26mm stem for fear of damaging the stem and/or bars.

Looks like I may need to give a stem with removable face plate like this one a go to see if the handlebars sit snug.

Re:

It might be wrong but a cromo mtb stem would open up better than an alloy one and give you some rise as well.
