An 18'' is not too big for 5.8ft a person. I'm only 1'' taller and have ridden an 18'' and now ride a 19.

I could be wrong, but i thought trek did 17.5 and 19.5, measured centreto top. It looks like the 19.5 to me which does have a huge toptube from memory
