I owned a near identical build to this a couple of years ago. It was a great bike but I felt it was let down by the SLX disc brakes, hence going for the Hopes on this one. Also, some lower rolling resistance tyres were in order.

Nice how does it ride?

Great :)

I was always happy with my old one, so knew this frame and fork combo was fine. As I mentioned I wasn't satisfied with the SLX brakes so went back to Hope. Not fussed with 10sp, it would make sense if it were a 2 x 10 setup but I went for it as I got a great deal on the groupset.

Figured I'd give 1 x 10 a go as the 11-36 cassette option seemed to offer a ratio for all occasions. XT cassette and chain is mated to an E-Thirteen 34t G-Ring, I also took the opportunity to upgrade the plasticky SLX shifter to XT and fit a matching GS rear mech (SLX is only offered in SGS). Chain retention is courtesy of a Race Face bash ring and a Jump Stop.
