Thought I may as well start a thread due to interest when mentioning it in other areas of the forum. To cut a long story short I got knocked off in June which wrote off my Bianchi and whilst I will be compensated for it, solicitors are slow and theres only so much pottering about on an mtb I can do lol. The frame and front wheel were the write offs with everthing else being salvageable. I managed to find a replacement of the front wheel not long after the accident (40 mile round trip via public transport whilst sky high on painkillers was certainly an experience) but frame was still up for debate. Given I will be getting a pretty modern bike comped via insurance I figured the best option would be to use the groupset, wheels etc salvaged to build a winter bike; easy maintenance, no internal routing or press fit etc.
Eventually stumbled across this Felt Flite Z100 on eBay; hailing from 2010 (as evident by the decals and colour scheme) it's an ally frame and carbon fork with both external BSA BB and cable routing. For the lowly price of £50 plus ship seemed like a no brainer and it's currently making it's way through Parcelforces network and should be here tomorrow.
So today I thought it'd be a wise idea to prep everything that'll be going on it, give it a wash etc.
Full spec:
105 R7000 crankset and rear mech
Ultegra 6800 shifters, front mech, brakes and cassette
FSA Omega bars, Pro stem
Ksyrium SLS with Conti gp5ks
Cassette got dunked and scrubbed, everything else got a liberal spray, hose off and wipe down. Not aiming for a perfect finish or looking brand new, mostly just making sure drivetrain is clean for waxing.
Came up pretty decent! Knock at the door not long after...
Can't say I ordered a quadlock!
All that's left is for some new SwissStop pads to arrive, along with the frame itself. Check back in tomorrow for a bike
