I know every Yeti fan and many whom are not are probably aware of this feat bitd so apologies if this is a necropost or has been discussed ad nauseum, but...I still find it remarkable that someone (read Carolyn "Curly" Curl) could go that fast on a DH kamikaze run and trust their life to such a short bar and a Judy  I've read the bar was a little over 12 inches but it looks more like 15-16 to me given the grips and brakes as a reference. Either way...Damn short bar.

For any of you DHs here, past or present, what's your fastest speed to date?

The gear ratio was reportedly around 34-78 and utilized a paragon one piece chainring.

I also get a kick out of these handmade studded tires.

Still blows my mind...#respect

My personal record was 92 kmh on a Hercules Titanal hardtail with a (2cm) Manitou FS. On a gravel road around '95 I think. If I remember correctly , the worlds best DH speed back then was around 110 kmh.

But over 200 - thats really mind blowing.

Re:

In Europe, the record was Eric Barone with 220km/h (137mph) on snow

:D

Actually, he try to be the faster on hard ground, downhilling on volcanos :D

Re:

Is that an Amp fork on Barone's bike?
I think that one is...he later went on to design and run a French Hurrycat linkage fork:

and then some longer travel dual crown numbers after this sort of thing happened

I'm amazed that he's still alive, really..a credit to the all the crazy Frenchmen in the world.

All the best,

Re:

I don't know if his helmet was designed to come off so easily, but it's always flying away from him:
