2009 Rock Shox Recon SL Solo Air

1 1/8" x 200mm Steerer Tube with star fangled nut fitted

100mm Travel

Air adjustable, rebound adjust and lockout

Normal QR dropouts

Really nice smooth forks, but a little short on travel for my frame. Could really do with some 120mm forks. Everything works as it should. They hold air fine and there's no oil leaks. Rebound adjuster works fine as does lockout.

Few small marks on lowers (and on lockout lever) but stanchions nice and clean.

£125 ono or swop for something similar with 120mm of travel?

If you'd like any close up pics, just let me know.

I've done a bit of reading and I think a spacer can be added to reduce the travel but there may not be one to remove to extend it. Didn't really want to buy oil etc and it not be possible.

Fair enough, there's so many versions of rock Shox its hard to tell externally. Think a 120mm reba would suit that frame nicely.

It its possible to do it without needing any new oil, just lay the forks flat when you slug t the uppers and lowers, and only pull the air pistion down the stanction enough to see of there is a spacer on the shaft. Mind you the lowers only need 15ml of synthetic engine oil in each leg if it goes wrong, so depending on what car you have you may already have the oil you need.

Thanks for the tips, may have to give that a go this weekend. Will get some oil anyway and the worst thing that can happen is the forks will get a service.

A mate looked into this a while back - apparently the 2009 SL Solo Airs can be made to 120mm but you need the 120mm air spring and longer uppers. From what I remember the total cost was about £250 for parts alone.
