2005 Marin Rear Shock

Hi Guys

I have a 2005 Marin Rocky Ridge with a Fox Vanilla shock the trouble is it bobs about when climbing,

Has anyone fitted a newer shock with pro pedal to a similar Marin?

Its the one with the 3 point travel adjustment on the frame

The standard shock has a 180mm eye to eye measurement which is no longer used would a 184mm shock work?
