Here is a 2003 Stumpjumper M4. This was my late pals bike and I replaced a few bits as near to original spec as possible over the summer and raced it a couple of times in my pals memory.
The M4 had mountings for disc and canti brakes. My pal specified hydraulic disc brakes.
Shimano 9 speed triple chainset with Specialized Strongarm cranks
Rockshox Sidi Team shocks. These were restored professionally with new seals, oil etc
Shimano Deore XT shifters, front and rear mechs
Shimano Deore LX hydraulic brake levers and LX calipers
Mavic XC 717 26” rims. Front hub is Hope, rear is Shimano
Thomson Elite inline seatpost
Specialized Toupe saddle
Land Cruisers tyres
Rear brake cable is full length and cabled tied along the top tube.
I replaced the chainset, chain and cassette so these have only done about 20 miles.
