So finally it's complete enough for a showing. Got this 2nd hand and it was completely spec'd wrong for some reason. It was more of an ETSX-30 of the same year.

All bike components that came with the bike… HS, drivetrain, fork, rear shock, etc... stripped off the frame and replaced with what you see.

*updated Sept 9/13: went to the cottage over the w/e so i snapped a few pics as i had updated quite a few parts since last posting to this thread… more pics/details at the end of thread. ;)

Nice! I had a 2007 ETSX70. Quality bike but I didn't get on with full suspension so it went.

Trevor.

how is it that you didn't get on with FS? i love how the ETSX rides. haven't done any serious XC with it yet, but it's suppose to climb like a mountain goat. looking for to this season. this w/e forecast is looking good! :D

Nothing wrong with the bike just prefer hardtails!

thanks! i'm very pleased with the results considering how i got it initially.

i've managed to shaved around 1-1.5 lbs off it.

some of what i pulled off the bike went towards the Stratos for the missus.

Good call on putting on a Fox RP3! I bet it improves the pedalling a bit.

I've never tried an ETS-X. Anyways, good practical build for South Ontario. No need for DH casing tires, an oversized stem or 6" travel forks. Deore hydro brakes are good too. 27.5 lbs is good, lighter than my Stumpjumper FSR.

Very nice, love the colours all around and looks a fine ride. And though the RF stuff is almost obligatory on a Rocky, it is so for a good reason!

Deore stops fine but on a bike of this caliber I would be looking for the 07 Hope mini or M4's, the silver bodied ones. Hope make fine hubs too, and they come in blue to boot.

Enjoy!!

thanks for the comments guys! :D

For brakes, i was considering between the three:

Juicy Ultimates in blue, XT M775 because I really like the new design of the levers, or to save money a set of XT M765 which are silver.

As for wheelset, I'd love a set of blue rims. But the few I have found are more geard for AM/DH riding and would be to beefy and heavy. The one set I did find for geared to XC is WAY out of my price range, but i can dream about them. They are the Crank Bros Cobalt. I'd settle for a wheelset laced on Chris King or Hope hubs in blue.
