Thanks mate :D

Re:

...a little update. The fork disc brake mounts have threaded! The whole caliper came adrift on a ride a week or so ago! After some advice, I decided to try to helicoil the threads...Previous experience left me feeling that my "ham fisted" attempts to DIY the helicoils would have resulted in a wrecked set of forks!

I found a local engineering firm that agreed to the work for £15, and will pick them up tomorrow. I am assured that having a helicoil is infact better than the original thread. So we'll see...

Other than that, it has been riding very nicely...firm yet forgiving. The geometry of the frame is just right, similar to the 95 Orange P7. The ride position is easy on the wrists, but then it does have riser bars. May still try a shorter stem but for now its ok.

But heres the thing...

...I entered a competition on here linked to CRC around easter time. Last week I heard that I won the comp! £250 of CRC vouchers! BONUS!

So it got me thinking, thinking about changing the 3X9 groupset for a 2X10! I have loved the range/ratio's on the Santa Cruz so hoping to emulate that again on the Lobster. For £250 I can afford an XT/Deore set up so that is what I am thinking of doing...

...just letting myself think about it for a bit before I blow the prize!

Lucky man with the CRC vouchers! I'd be procrastinating for weeks on how to spend those!

Re:

Right so the Lobster is getting a makeover...due to the recent windfall from CRC it is now about to be kitted out in a full 2X10 XT setup:

- M785 Double crankest
- M771 11-36 cassette
- M786 10 speed + rear mech
- M786 2 speed front mech
- HG95 XT chain
- M770 BB
- M780 Shifters

Should be a sweet set up if the SC is anything to go by!

really good bike!
I love steel frame, and this, with wishbone and those simple Ritchey dropouts it's beautiful!!!
