Guru's, need some advice please.
Have picked up this recently:-

It rides well, and seems to have been used very little. Wondering how easy it will be to obtain spares for forks and brakes?

Most of the parts you would need you can find for that, from the look of it on the small picture my phone.... it is pace forks and Hope discs?

Justbackdated is a good guy to speak to for spares on the forks. Depending on what you need he should be able to help you.

There are people on here a lot more knowledgeable about the brakes than myself, but I have a set of hope C2s which I have found spares to be easily obtainable for. Chain reaction does all the seals and such-like, or you could go straight to Hope themselves. They are fairly helpful I believe.

Nice looking bike you have there, wouldn't mind one myself I must say

hope still have a few spares for the xc4 brakes and i think you can get the rebuild kit for the levers no problem it is the caliper end that could be hard to find spares for but they are out there, that brake didn't last long production wise. pads shouldn't be too hard to find with a bit of effort looking. spares for the pace fork just PM "justbackdated" on here, it's tim who used to be the actual pace service guy, he set up his own servicing company for older pace forks and can sort parts and service for almost any pace fork from back in the day, and he's recommendd by Pace themselves on their website, his company is Fork English.

Nea worries Jonny, if it wasn't me it'd be someone else

Are those Hope XC4s any good? I have a set which I've rebuilt and should be 100%, but am put off by the measly discs on them. Its something like a 150mm front and 130mm rear disc on them... How do you find they work on the sub 5?

or, now I think about it, is that one of the reasons why your asking about spares for them?

Yup, Pace RC36 Evo III I think. They seem good, very little flex. I wasn't sure which model the brakes were. They seem fine. I ride around Swinley Forest locally so don't need massive braking and am used to v-brakes only.

Thanks!
As above, I wasn't sure which model of brake these are. The only thing I can see wrong with the lever is a perished dust seal.
I'll PM Tim. The forks seem to be almost like new- clean stanchions. I've heard that there are no more braces left and as it's made of magnesium, is easily broken.

I wondered if the air spring can be replaced with a regular coil spring?

The air spring can indeed be replaced with a coil, and Tim can do it for you I believe. I bought a set of RC36 Evo3s off here a while back which have that very mod.

If you don't have any luck getting the seal for the lever I have some spare seals for the Pro lever. I have been keeping them for a 'just in case' reason, if you have a need I'm sure I could part with a set. I think they are still available...

deffo the biggest improvement to that bike would be a modern shock. single pivot frames pedal considerably better with modern valved rear shock.

Thanks for that offer. I'll have a look around, contact the Hope guys.
