1998 Sunn Exact bare metal build

Looks great. get a decent car wax or sealent on it before you build it. it will wash off allot easier and dirt wont stick so badly.

That’s looking wicked - superb job so far!

Cant wait to see this finished ! Are you going to keep it afterward?

Re:

Thanks for all the positive comments, yeah I’m itching to get out to my workshop and build this up, should be able to make a good start over the weekend.
Might need some guidance with component selection as I have a varied collection of bits and can’t decide what’s going on this one..

Haven’t decided yet, I do need to make some space but we’ll see once this is built up how attached I get to it!

I’m curious to know what year decals you chose
You could try and source as close to catalogue as possible - here’s an inspirational post: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=351646
Closest match is 98.

Here’s a 97.

Cheers for the above, liked the thread you linked - he changed the spec on that a few times didn’t he?
I’m confident the frame is a 1998 but there’s so little in terms of decal details that I could find.. I sent what I could over to Gil M (including the catalogue photo you put up) and he put together what you see on my frame.
So, it’s not going to be 100% original, but I’ll be happy with close to as poss. I have either steel rigid forks or the choice of a couple of 80mm sus. forks. I’m not going to stress too much about tracking down some of those obsys forks - bet they’re like hens teeth.
I have XT and XTR parts to go on and we’ll see how she takes shape..
Cheers as always for the advice and interest.
Marc

There’s some brute and Ruddz stuff on eBay - also if you go to the VTT Francais thread you can ask done Q’s - our friends in France are quite helpful and can source all manner of parts for cheap!

I look forward to this! The Maxe Comp he made a replica and then Changed it afterwards

Re:

Just experimenting with forks, I have some rigid cr-mo in matching white, Marzocchi Z2 bam in chrome/blue and Z2 atom race in chrome/red.
The frame stickers have blue and some red too..
What’s everyone thinking?
