Bloke I work with has had to come out of the saddle following a neck injury and as a consiquence was having a cull of bikes and bike parts. He stopped me by the kettle to offer me a his full-sus marin frame, but as full sus isn't really my thing, and I knew he had this bike, I said.. "nah.. but, if you ever are selling your mango stumpy mate.." I was part joking, fully expecting him to tell me to bugger off - but to my total surprise he offered it me at a silly low price
Anyway, he's owned this a very long time from new, and used it through many winters as a commuter bike - so it's far from mint. Some parts have been swapped where worn out, the front wheel is red mavic 515 on specialized hub, rear is 717 on parallax. V brakes, ritchy flat bar, Mostly XT gears - I'm assuming that the rear mech, rear wheel, crankset and saddle are non original.
Be lovely to get it back to spec, (and perhaps even clean it!). I know virtually nothing about specialized bikes, so ... Is it standard spec stumpy or one of the higher spec models? Is that 515 rim an upgrade or original?? Is it even actually a '98?
Seatpost is reaally long!
Non original rear mech??
