I have just picked up a NOS Indy C but it has a 1 1/4" steerer and I need 1 1/8".
Can the steerer be replaced or will I be listing it for sale?

The Indy has the bonded stanchions and a pressed in steerer; possible to have a 1 1/8" steerer pressed in with a shim, but I wouldn't want to...

I've got some indy's, the steerer is pressed in to the crown but the crown is removeabe (2 bolts for each stanchion) :?

Hmm... I don't see as they would have bothered messing with stanchion sizes for low end forks like indy's between model years, so if you could get the bonded crown off one way or another, you could (atleast in theory) bolt on a crown with whatever steerer you like (from a fork with the same stanchions)

Why not swap the crown still attached to stanchions from some indy C's with a 1 1/8th steerer? Or is that not possible??

Update

Sorry chaps, been away for a while but thanks for your input.
The stanchions are bonded and the steerer is press fit.
My clever engineer friend has offered to either:
A) Press out the existing steerer and make me a 1 1/8" alloy steerer from scratch with a step to 1 1/4" within the crown
or
B) Assuming the internal diameter of the existing steer is 1 1/8" cut it at the crown and interference foit a 1 1/8" steerer with a "top hat" to retain it.
What do you think?
