1998 GT Avalanche in gold

Built myself a gravelish bike from a mint '98 GT Avalanche frame in gold. Hope to smash out some cx races on it this winter. Mostly built from a box of bits I found in my brothers shed from the early 2000s that he abandoned when he went to live down under.

I remember back in the day I was buying an LTS for DH'ing and one of these was sat in the shop next to it and It almost swayed me from the LTS as it was so damn pretty.

21 years later....

Shimano Sora brifters
Cheapo chinesium drops and stem
Alvio r mech
Avid V brakes
Cranks and off an old Saracen exile jump bike.
1.95 slicks

It rides well

Lol. The guide is too draggy for road miles. I just hook it back up off road. Yeah still tinkering with the riding position. With the saddle flattish and the long low stem it's a right ball buster. It's comfy tilted. Probably needs a shorter stem. Brakes are a bit sharp too.... road levers on Vs are a bit like a switch.

It's a different take on a Gravel Bike :D

I love it though, my first proper mountain bike was an Avalanche and always loved the triple triangle design.
