Story time.

On the 23rd of March 2017 Seth’s Bike Hacks uploaded a YouTube video called ‘Win Seth’s Bike’. One of the finalists was a kid called Alex, he had a 1995 Cannondale F500 of course with the headshock. I showed my dad that video 5 years ago and he said “oh yeah, I used to have a Super V Raven”, and I recently got the opportunity to buy this bike back off an old friend.

This build is special, a lot more special then the Yellow FSR as that wasn’t my dad’s ACTUAL bike but this one is!

It was in a bit of a sorry state to begin with as the previous owner had removed some of the stock parts and replaced with SRAM 9.0SL gripshift, a Fizik Nisene Cowhide saddle, Easton CT2 riser bars, and a Thomson Seatpost. None of these parts are bad…and I will be keeping some bits for example the Thomson Seatpost will remain on the bike as it’s a sensible upgrade. But the rest has come off.

I cleaned the bike a couple days ago and just started building this morning. I’m putting it back to mostly stock with the additional XTR and Yellow Pana 2.1 upgrade…hope you guys enjoy this thread and as cringy as the story sounds I don’t care as this bike is very special to me!

Thanks for reading.

Charlie

This is what I got up to this morning whilst blasting out some oldskool garage tunes:

The original BB was shagged so once again the hero that is Duncan at Wallington Cycles hooked me up with a Shimano BB-UN300 which is 10x better then the original Tange BB with plastic non drive-side cup.

Vibrant Warm…oh and the cat.

BB installed along with the cranks, looking awesome. Bought a set of Cannondale XC-Silicone Grips from Sigma a couple weeks back as the company that remakes the Coda grips had none in stock. Still got yellow Jagwire brake + gear cable to install so maybe it’s a good thing I wasn’t able to get the yellow grips. Too many shades of yellow!

Only the cassette, chain and front mech (which I cleaned earlier) to go now then it will be ready for the trails.

Great bike. It brings back memories. I knew a guy in Arizona that had a black one. I thought it was the most amazing bike I had ever seen at the time.

Shimano XT M750 cassette added, you could eat your dinner off of this!

Water from the kettle and a bit of washing up liquid in a Tupperware container does the trick ace.

Last 2 parts installed (front mech, chain) now it’s time to tune the brakes + gears but gonna leave that for another day, I’ll defo have the bike finished by the end of this week. Chain is a gold KMC titanium I think, I’m sure it’s titanium…

Thought I’d say current weight of the bike is 11.7kg but not sure how accurate that is using luggage scales. No doubt the bike will be sub 12kg once brake + gear cables have been installed.
