Picked this up for a song. Bloke I bought it from had bought the frame and original rigid fork, had it mounted with Deore group for commuting to work. Had decided the fact it was uncomfortable wasn't to do with the fact the frame was 2 sizes too big for him, or the horrible fiz'ik saddle, but rather that the forks were rigid, and thus rubbish.
So he binned them and fitted some bottom-of-the-barrel second-hand Suntour boingers.
Eeeeagh.
When I got it, it was fitted with some really horrible half-road tyres and stickers all over the frame. After a radical destickering and getting some half way decent rubber on it, it looked like this:
Not too bad, but hey, the stem is mounted upside-down, and it's still got that fork. After taking that photo (from work hahahahahahahaha), I happened to find some brake bumps in a corner. Oshitoshitoshitowowowowowow.....
Ditched the fiz'ik and replaced with a commençal-badged vélo, and sourced a pair of xc700s. Result:
It's lovely to ride.
