These shoes are definitely '97 vintage as I bought them with my pay check when I worked in Halfords as a teenager, but I never got on with clips on a DH bike so they have been mostly used occasionally on my road bike.
Shimano's first foray into downhill SPD as I remember, a solid stiff sole, rubber toe cap and yellow/black suede.
The shoes came first and have seen moderate use, the pedals were acquired later and are in fantastic condition. They don't seem to have ever seen the wet and even come with the original box.
