1997 Saracen Kili Team (the green machine!) completed 290322

👍I'll do a thread on mine when I get going on it, only had it sat around 6 months so far 🤣

Been working all over Xmas but I must crack on with this build…. Only thing stopping me building it up with the XT groupset is the fact that with all my other hobbies inc motorbike, other builds in line etc that I may actually sell this due to things getting out of control and fact it will likely spend its life sat idle as a garage queen…
My OCD is a disease!!!!!!!!!
🤔🤔🤔🤔
Need to ponder before i go further but if you’re interested in it as it is or with the full original Stx RC/LX groupset then drop me a PM before I crack on……

I'd be interested. I could wrap it in lovely XTR as well. I had the burnt red version in the past, Sold it regretfully. I have another of these redone in gunmetal grey powder coat so non original but I'd love a full frame and fork to work on. PM me a price if your interested in a sale.

The front wheel has been stripped and I’m happy to say that it’s like new inside. The rim face once introduced to a little wire wool and water is like the day it left the factory.
This truly has been a pampered one owner bike!
I’ll stick new bearings in just because and then onto the rear….

It’s staying for now as I think I need to get it built and shown on here…

I’ll keep the updates coming albeit this will be slow progress….

Update…

Today I managed to replace the front bearings (cones are in great condition). The bearings were fine however I don’t see the point in not replacing them when doing a full resto as I buy them in bulk and have them in my stocks anyway…

I also fitted the NOS Tiagra tyre (have a rear also) and messed about with some grip choices I have in my stock but think I’ll go with the grey lizard skins as I’m not brave enough to fit the pink ODI’s however I’d consider red or green ODI’s????

Here’s some pics as the sun fades for the day…

Bit of an update today!
Serviced the rear wheel and polished it up. New bearings, tube and tyre fitted. New 11/28 sram cassette too.

After messing about with seatpost I realised that the one that came in the bike which was 26.4mm was not the original so the Fred salmon post I bought was also incorrect!

The correct seatpost diameter is 27mm and the seatpostclamp is 30mm.

I’m sourcing another Fred salmon post (the I’ll be selling the 26.4 one but with a silver not green head clamp if anyone is after one) and I’ve also fitted a better seatpost clamp in black to match the accent on the headset.

Coming together nicely. I can tell this is gonna be one light machine once completed!
