One of the last of the steel Rockhoppers - this is a really nice riding old school frame with enough modern touches to make it more practical and easier to maintain than an early/mid 90s bike. Ritchey dropouts and double butted tubing. It's mostly original although the wheels are not, and notably the L/H shifter is a cheap modern item.

This is pretty much as I bought it apart from the Schwalbe City Jets I fitted to replace the cracked cheapo tyres it came with... Overall condition is pretty good - it would tidy up well. Previous owner fitted brand new cassette, new chainrings and chain and these are still low mileage. Everything works but rear shifting is a bit sloppy - I was planning to replace cables which I reckon will sort it. Saddle is naff but most of the rest would polish up.

Late 90s stuff like this doesn't get the respect it deserves - IMO with ahead forks and v-brakes this is a better bike than a mid 90s equivalent but with no less retro magic. This is relatively unusual for the period in that it comes with rigid forks, adding to the retro goodness.

It's a sweet riding bike that I'd like to keep but I have more bikes than I have time to ride.

£150 posted, or £100 cash on collection from South Devon.

A couple more pics plus a bonus shot showing how I had it set up. The big frame with long steerer tube works well (for non-giants) in a touring setup for a more upright position - just needs a shorter stem and/or suitable bars.
