1997 Rigid GT Axle to Crown?

bikey :)

Old School Hero
I bought a 1997 GT frame. I have two Bologna type forks: a 410 mm a-c in plain gauge and a 398 mm a-c version with single-butted legs. I'm running the latter fork at the moment because it's a bit lighter. The steering feels slightly on the sharp side though. I feel that the handling with the 410 mm fork is probably closer to what was originally intended, but a 405 mm fork would probably be ideal. What axle to crown length did GT use on their 1997 rigid bikes?

I'd bet that they designed frames in the expectation of suspension as an upgrade or when using the same frame fabrication for a model with front suspension.

In the end use whichever you prefer though!

Yeha by 1997 they may (or not) have adjusted the geometry for suspension fork (like a 65mm one), so the longer travel would be the go... still you can just change it and see how it works.
