Thought I'd start a thread in here rather than bumping a now obsolete thread in the for sale section.
Spotted this early on in the week after being tipped off that it was local and fell in love immediately and decided to start googling how much black market kidneys sell for, had a chat with the sellers to make sure it was my size and enquire if I could tempt them to end early, but as they'd already received a bid it wouldn't be fair to end so onward the auction ran (which is fair enough).
So there I am quietly keeping an eye on it and then to my horror my mate Will (kingoffootball) outed it in the eBay section on here and I thought all hope was lost, a few showed interest but I kept my hopes up and after discussions with others and a couple of interested parties on here it seemed I was clear to bid in relative comfort until with an hour to go I was outbid :-(
I sulked a little bit kept an eye on it and had mates messaging me urging me to bid as the seconds and minutes ticked by.
Then boom the auction ended and she was mine, then I realised having my tea in the pub and a few pints was a terrible idea as I couldn't go pick her up, messaged the seller to enquire about collection thinking how the hell am I going to wait all day at work tomorrow to go for it, then my mate rich stepped up to take me for her!!!

That was the Sunday night (last night) and today at work I have been clock watching all day waiting to come home and faff with the old girl, tighten a few cables and just sit and smile, now I know Raleigh Ti bikes aren't as sought after nor as exotic as Marin or merlin or GT Ti bikes, but after having always lusted after a Ti bike of any description I am over the moon to have one in my collection now!

Right essay over a couple of pics for you all.....

That's all for now, I'll keep this thread updated but she is going to remain relatively as she is now, maybe a pair of reissue smoke and darts as the conti's are cracked unfortunately so will have to be replaced but she probably won't be getting upgraded or changed as she's in absolute time warp condition!

I know the feeling all to well waiting and watching on ebay although it wasn't for a bike last time it was for a little Fiesta but yes hoping above all else not to be out bid is a very nervy experience but hey you got what you wanted in the end and so it's a Raleigh what's wrong with that eh! as it's Ti and still looks pretty amazing imho although i'll be having a better look at your pics on the wifes tab later as my 10 year old lappy doesn't shoe all the details up as good but so far i'm loving what i see and i'm pretty certain you'll be well over the moon with it when you've got your chance of a proper ride and i may of only seen pics but i'm well jealous i can tell you  but i am a little bias when it comes to Ralieghs  ..

Excellent mate, subscribed. Having had a Marin Team Ti before, sold it, saw this liked it, but saw your post and also bit big, thought I'd pass so glad you got it rather than a random non RBer. I have seen far less of these than the Marin, Merlin or GTs ...it looks lovely and I think I'm gonna keep an eye out for a smaller version than 20", be nice to have a Raleigh Ti... one of their better bikes. Enjoy! Ps: my Ti FRS has a 2 year younger hard tail sister now.. damn you and this bike! ;-)

Re:

Well today I managed to get the old girl out on the trails and did a nice little 12 miles on her.
Brake pads definitely need replacing as they've gone hard and the tyres have cracks running all the way round the casings so creak annoyingly when ridden (which I knew and expected so not to worry) think a set of reissue smoke and darts will find their way onto her soon enough, but I love it!
It flies up the climbs like an aluminium bike, yet feels nice and comfortable on the trails like steel bikes do, very planted and nicely chuckable too as I did a few twisty rooty descents and felt very happy and confident on her!
Everything works as it should and shifting is clean and precise, something I had forgotten a retro could do in fairness as my more commonly ridden retros are starting to take quite a hammering and not working as well as they used!
Anyways enough drivel from me and some pics of her in the sun no less...

What drivel ! , i was enjoying myself reading what you'd written and your the 1st person i actually remember giving such straight to the point verdict on the feel of the ride on a Ti framed bike which funnily enough sounds just like i hoped it would 8) .

So any way you'll have to have another retest once you've replaced the tyres and brake blocks as it will handle a bit quicker to rider input well that's what i imagine any way and nice pics by the way they make me feel pretty jealous as i can't ride a bike atm but at least you've had a good day ;) ..

Re:

Well it always seems to me that I'm drivelling on and wittering when I should really be making with the pics haha!

The most amusing part of it is that I was actually talking to myself whilst out on the bike almost telling myself my own opinion on it as I rode, but it's nice to know I carried the feel of the bike well when I put it into words, see all those years reading the wrecking crew write ups from mbuk weren't misspent it would seem lol!

Re:

According to the little weighing device my sister has for her travel suitcases, it is exactly 24lbs with the standard vp pedals on :-)

Re:

Awesome bike, reminds me of my (sadly missed) Torus. Really like the drivel and the gratuitous pictures.
