1997 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo

Dismantled the Indy XCs. Pretty straightforward except that the plunger bolts seemed to be welded in! Got there in the end though with a piece of copper pipe on the T Handle to get some more leverage. Managed to fk up one of the internal seal springs by not using enough force- tried fiddling it out with a screwdriver rather than just gouging it out with a good beefy tyre lever :D I reckon it'll be ok though- time will tell. Stripped/sanded the fork lowers and they've scrubbed up pretty well, so I'll be dropping them at the friendly local powder coaters hopefully in the next few days (He's in riding distance. No breach of Covid protocol. Calm yourselves! )

I'm trying for OS as much as possible :D

Anyway, got the lowers back today and, considering they're twenty-odd years old, they look mighty fine :D

So, having been distracted with buying a Bontrager Privateer Comp frame and all that goes with that, I got round to some paint stripping today. Anybody want to buy some Fisher shavings?

Nice frame. Looks the same as mine. Have you found a source for replica decals?

I took my Hoo-Koo-E-Koo frame to Triple S Powder Coating. They grit blasted it, then powder coated it in red. Finish is fairly good, but not quite as glossy as a proper paint job.

This one's definitely on the back burner now. Bonty Privateer and MF Monarch Ultra have taken priority for the time being.
Every cloud however: the lad's been talking about getting more exercise recently and I said I'd build him a bike. Then I thought about the donor bike for this build...
So took it round today. Did a little cleaning, a little fettling and a bit of oiling and it's all looking rather nice:)
Best of all the favourite son (I can say this as I only have the one!) loves it- and it's one year older than he is! So we'll be off for rides together soon:D
