I have reluctantly put my 1996 M2 Team frame for sale. It is slightly too big for me and I need the cash for other things so sadly has to go.
It is in good condition with the only major scratch being on the top tube, a zigzag about an inch long, easily touched up. It comes with a un71 BB and cups from a Aheadset headset, the seatclamp is not included as this has since been put to work on my M4
The downside is that the frame has a small hairline crack around the weld on the right side chainstay. This is apparently an easy fix for a competent alu welder using a low heat repair with a 6061 rod. The only guy who I know up here to do it can not do it till the new year as his company has been taken over and he cant do private jobs till things settle back down.
I have all the info on the repair I can pass on, most of the advice came from carsten on here and the welders confirmed it not a big deal especially as it around another weld.
There is a picture with the crack at the moment its just the paint cracked through but the welder said it was a case of cleaning and filling around an inch. Then leaving to strengthen for a few weeks before touching up the paint.

re: m2

nice frame, to bad it's cracked. Back in the days, the buzz was that m2's did this! But it's a complicated material in the M2 since it's not pure aluminium this is just something I've heard. A friend borrowed mine and cracked it, which is very sad, I still miss it. But it was said that it would just crack again if welded...

Crack

Hi mate
If repaired properly and left for a couple of weeks before painting or riding it should be fine. It needs to be repaired using the right rod at the right temp. It is a shame but thats why its going cheap, if it wasnt cracked it would be three times this price. But alas fixed or cracked its still a bit big for me and I have the chance to get one in my size and that is four times this price

re:

I have a black 93 M2 stumpie waiting for me, in the size 16". really don't feel any difference between that one and the S-works i had earlier. except this one is to small, so the girl is taking it.

I hope it will bring someone with some welding powers joy!

Last try before it goes away to be fixed when I get a chance in the new year.
