Here for sale is my 1996 Pro-Flex 856 Animal World Cup Design (frame size 20"), which also includes spare bars, saddle and pedals.
I bought this bike last summer as a stable mate for my 1997 Specialized Rockhopper that I have had since new; and it has had light XC use since.
The only reason I am selling is because I find the frame (which is 20") a little too big for me (I am 5’ 8”), so I have bought a smaller framed bike (Kona Coiler).
I have not seen another one in the Animal colour scheme around. The bike performs very well....but just feels too big for me especially on downhill sections, so unfortunately much as I love to keep it, it should go to someone who will feel more at home on it. So if you know and like your retro bikes you will appreciate this.
The spec is as follows.
· World Cup Design frame – 20” from BB to top of seat tube.
· 7000 aluminium, double butted with aluminium swingarm.
· Girvin Vector II forks.
· Upgraded Girvin ODS Coil-Over-Oil shocks (~80mm travel) with Eibach MS Pro-3 (front) and MS Pro-6 (rear) springs.
· Shimao Deore XT front mech with Sugino CSS III crankset (22/32/42T).
· Shimano Deore XT SGS rear mech with 8 speed rear cassette (11- 28T).
· Recent new X-Lite 35mm rise XC-2 bars plus spare set of Renthal Forward Control RC+130 race bars (red anodised) included.
· New CNC stem plus original Pro-Flex stem included.
· Original Red Magura HS22 Hydraulic rim brakes with Magura Hydrostop levers.
· Shimano Rapid Fire XT shifters.
· Yeti grips.
· Syncros seat post (cut down to 130mm).
· Selle Italia Gel saddle (worn) plus original Selle San Marco Concor Lite saddle (two small tears at back) with Karrimor under saddle tube / tool bag included.
· Gore ‘Ride-On’ cables.
· Mavic 221 32 hole UB Control rims.
· Recent new Cross Mark Exception Series 26 x 2.10 tyres.
· Recent new "slime" inner tubes.
· New Wellgo pedals plus spare set of new Shimano flat / flip for SPD pedals included.
· Velocity bottle cage.
· Hot Shot II mini pump & holder.
· Bike weighs around 26-27lbs.
Overall the bike is in very good condition with only a few minor scrapes and scratches. The only issue may be that the rear shock has a small discharge of gunk from it but still seems to perform OK.
