NOW SOLD
Right, with a sad heart... due to lack of space, my cherished Kona Kula is up for sale.
I've had this from new - where did those 18 years go?! Originally I had the first champagne coloured Kula, but this developed a crack in the frame just over a year later. The frame was replaced under warranty with a 1996 Kula frame (Easton Elite Aluminium).
I replaced the Marzocchi XC500 Forks a few years ago as the oil seals needed replacing every year - too much high maintenance for a spare bike! With direction from Kona, these were replaced with Bomber XC 500 ETA to maintain the correct frame geometry (along with the headset and stem).
Original gripshifts were upgraded to Deore XT 8 speed shifters and the Kona brakes were swapped out for Avid 7 V brakes. This made a massive difference over the original setup works really well. Original Sugino crankset remains.
Saddle is not included - not really in keeping with the retro style anyway (was hoping to find the original Kona race light one with titanium rails, but no joy
)
The frame is in very good condition - the photos show the worse of the stone and chain suck chips. The frame is sound and has no dents, dings etc whatsoever.
Looking for £450. Would like to sell the complete bike first (minus the saddle), but would be prepared to split if there is enough interest. The frame (in this condition) is worth £200.
Collection preferred from the Newbury area in Berkshire - but I do have a box that this can be shipped in.
