It's not a 96...may have been made in late 96 but the decals prove it's a 97 model year frame. How can you say OK for 80-100mm forks?? These bikes were engineered for a max of 80 at the time...In fact the bulk of the Judy XC's which this frame was engineered around were 67mm travel spec not even 80...80mm front suspension would be the max you'd want to run on this without putting additional unwanted stress on the head tube.

It was made in nov / 96 but is the 97 model (the frame is the same in 96 and 97) in 97 the bike had V brakes but the frame had the Canti guides

an 80 mm fork is too much for this frame, in fact it ride well with a vintage rigid fork

I run an 80mm '97 Judy DH on my '97 Zaskar, it rides beautifully. I've had plenty of experience with running 100mm Marzocchi Bombers on Zaskar's of this era, and while it raises the front end up, it's not enough to cause massive problems. It depends on the type of riding you plan to do, and whether the aesthetics bother you - it can look a bit 'jump bike' on the smaller frames, but on a 20" may look in proportion.

But it was designed around a 63-80mm Judy, and the frames aren't getting any younger, so I take it easy on mine nowadays. That has nothing to do with getting older myself, of course.

How on earth it is still here? Only if this could be just one or two sizes smaller...or me taller.
