This people is beyond my dream bike, When I was young I used to peep through them Cheltenham bike shop windows gazing at the ball burnished LTS bikes and Zaskars dreaming of even touching one never mind owning one. Then when the plastic version appeared i only dribbled on my well thumbed magazine pages 8)

So fast forward (ahem ) a few years and my obsession with GT and I have finally got my hands on a plastic one!! , Its a early LTS nana model rather than a STS. The bike had a pretty easy life but was not clean I dont think since built in 1996!!

The history as I have been told ,The frame come from Recycle (Croydon bike shop in 90`s , remember it?) this was a insurance payout (2nd) from Marin to cover the chaps Marin FRS which had cracked again. They actually told him its a design fault and wouldnt cover the cost again so paid him his full money back and gave him a Indian Fire trail frame and told him to swap all the bits over. Not a bad deal really i thought so wanting a full suss frame he went and brought this one. Apparently as they always are it was a "team" frame used by british rider?

So here we are currently, I have stripped back to the frame (literately) grime like I have never EVER seen before and it now sits waiting to be built again. All the bushes are nice and tight with no play (now clean too) and a Risse rear shock ready to go.

My main head scratch was which groupset to clad the steed with, It came with an original nice condition m900 without the cantis (been replaced with later V`s and adaptors for canti shifters) or I have squireiled a mint M952 groupset away which would be more in fitting with the year of frame.

Even though the frame does have a canti hanger (Retrobike Sin ) I am going for the later groupset :?

The wheelset will be a middleburn rear with a pretty cool period front wheel that was made by a engineer in worthing again been told one of three made.

Thats as far as it has got , I have actually just removed myself from the garage to write this up as I was very quickly dropping into the what is laying around to lash it up and get it mobile  So I am going to take a step back and actually decide what I want for it and do it right (shock horror )

I am open to ideas for

Forks - I have mint Judy xc or nice Orange Bombers z4`s (not sure on either)

Stem-

Bars-

Seatpost - Currently had black Kore 27.0

Headset - Going to source a King (quite excited never had one before  )

Would love any feedback 8)

That is a seriously stunning bike, it's always nice to hear of someone eventually buying the bike they lusted after as a child. If I was you I'd go with some black or silver forks, much that I love the bomber orange, I don't think it would go too well with the build, How about some Pace forks?

Beautiful.

IMO, only early judy SLs will work with that. (even over the RS/Spesh FSX)

Or possibly a set of Girvins. Dunno why though.

:D

stunning frames those daj , i have a cracked one stashed away for repair on a rainy day ,the b/b shell cracks on them where the o/d is reduced
they can be welded in situ tho allegedly

looking forward to more installments

Agree those Judys would be great and a great price.

Lovely frame, and I have an aversion to Carbon usually.

Hmmmm forks are the big one to get right, I have to admit (another retrobike sin) i have been looking modern such as Fox F80`s the older grey model. Mainly because sorting out some nice yellow SL judys for the other lts has been a nightmare  what is meant to be "nice" "well serviced" "clean stantions" normally ends up a heap of sh@t  I quite like the Pace route but sorley tempted to put some forks on that will actually work without servicing every other ride

I have these

and these which are super smart from LGF 8) (planning to be on my rigid build though)

But was thinking some like these would look smart and most importantly function ? :?
