1996 explosif frame,. uk

Nice frame, but BIN price seems a bit steep to me, even if you could get back £30-40 of it on the seat post. I would have thought my 853 one was worth more than a 96, but Iwouldn't expect it to fetch as much as that.

Seems fair price to me..........Columbus Max is it ? I can see a cable guide 4 the rear brake.
Well this 1995 one with identical frame and with parts as shown sold for £105. Yes, that's a ti bar with an eBay value of £35, and bar ends were Bontrager.

Kona

A pair of 1998 Reynolds 853 explosif frames sold for £250 each late last year, so his BIN is not unreasonable, especially considering the condition of the frame. I got £170 for my 2003 Explosif (True temper OX) in November (it was in superb condition but I cocked up the end time) but the speciality steels (853, 631, Columbus max and Nivacrom) do seem to have a premium price. They may also pop up in more general searches on Ebay.

Funnily enough though, I've been told by people who used to sell them that the reason you don't see many 96/97 Explosifs for sale now is that they didn't sell very many at the time. One person said the mustard colour of the 97 bike was unpopular, another that the demand for the Kula was way higher. But then you don't see many 97 Kulas for sale either.

97 Explosif

Hi Anthony,
I can corroborate your friends views on the 97 Explosif. My mate and I both waited for the 1998 model to come out so we could get one in a decent colour. Both having roady inclinations we got pretty excited when the 98 Explosif came out in Reynolds 853 in a tasteful blue. I blew all my cash on a Colnago master whilst I was waiting though and then ran out of space.

Kona repeated the mistake by making the 98 Kilauea in Reynolds 631 but in an awful yellow. Now you really don't see many of those!

Seems like a fair price then ! Colour can command higher or lower prices.I had an Explosive 93 in that sage/ olive green.........very nice too.......... a mix of Tange ultra strong, ulta light and concept tubing i recall. Wish i still had it.
