Retro Newbie
Hello, first post here so please be gentle!

So here’s my M900. I’ve had her since new and was bought with my student loan while at university in Bangor! For those years and many after, it was my only transport and took me on adventures around Wales and parts of Scotland – it even sported a rack at one time. After a particularly savage day at coed-y-brenin and after many months in plaster, I left the rough stuff behind and migrated to the road. So I missed the bouncy revolution for good or bad.

So the ‘dale has sat in many sheds as I’ve moved around, gathering dust. Every once in a while, I’d create a basket full of stuff on chainreactioncycles to rebuild her but it never seemed economical. But recently, the kids have become more confident on their bikes and need a companion for the milder trails around here. So I decided the time was right to get her rolling again.

The bits are nothing special, just enough to semi modernise the drive train: 1x10 xt cassette with raceface narrow wide on a cheap chainset and a cracking little cheap zee derailleur. The original had sheared in two long ago. Some avid v brakes to replace the cantis, not as pretty so I will replace at some point.

The hubs and rims are original but were rebuilt. The original bar snapped but I still have the stem which is a little long for me now at 120mm, replaced with a Thomson 90mm.
What a cracking ride. I remember it being quick and there really isn’t much difference compared to my road bike. I will get the panaracer fire (?) I’ve had in a box for many years back on and get out on the gnarly stuff to see if I am still as good as my memory tells me!

Some pics. Excuse the pedals – I need to replace, and the awful ergon things! Comfy but so ugly.
