1996 21" Orange C-16R

Neil A

Retro Newbie
What we've got here is a classic steel mountain bike from the year AD 1996. It was my first proper MTB as has lain dormant in the garage for ages as I couldn't bear to part with it. :)

Would suit rider in the 6 foot region.

Spec highlights:

> The frame was completely stripped and re-sprayed by Orange when I worked at the local bike shop in about 2000 and hasn't been ridden since (it used to be dark green). Original Orange decals were also applied in Halifax.
> Manitou SX forks - 75mm of buttery smooth travel. Actually the damping cartridge has blown so they're not great. The bike also comes with the last pair of Orange F7 rigid forks which I snaffled up a couple of years ago from the Orange factory. They need a thread tapping onto them and they are finished in black - brand new though.
> Shimano STX RC full groupset with 7 spead rear casette for the ultimate in non-clogging shifting performance
> Beautiful retro XT rear mech
> LX upgrade v-brakes with Avid Speed dial levels (anodised in red naturally)
> I'll throw in the original STX RC canti's too
> Original FIR rims - pretty damn straight too as I bought a new wheel set and these were consigned to the garage
> Classic Flite Ti saddle
> DMR V12 pedals - orange obviously
> Usused slick tyres
> Azonic riser bar with 1" quill Uno stem
> Pleasingly nerdy Crud Guard

Aha! the double click button catches out yet another wayward traveller :D

tis a loovly bike ye git ther [Its my Yorkshire accent]

Very nice and a fair price, but why sell?.Its obvious you love your bikes 8) .
Many members here started off on P7's and clockworks but sold them on years ago.Not one of them [including me] can tell you they havent regretted selling theirs.
Keep it and change it back to the original green[not the lime green please god    ]
If it is the lime[mine was] theres a set of marzocchi bombers from that time that are a matching colour.
Stick on an XT 739 groupo and you've got something that will rekindle your love for your clockwork.I even managed to get a disc to run on it[safely for about 8 yrs]
I do wish id kept mine

I haven't ridden it in 8 years and I've got a Santa Cruz Heckler and a Roberts road bike, not to mentioned a lack of space so it's gotta go sadly! I think you should definitely buy it - satisfy your lust for old school steel 8)
